So how can Hypnotherapy help? The Think Slim Be Slim programme is based on the philosophy that if you think and feel like a slim person then you will adopt the habits and behaviours of a slim person. Remember that friend who seems to eat what they like and still stay slim? The chances are they only eat when they are hungry, stop when they’ve had enough, eat a balanced diet and keep active.
By changing the way you think about food you can regain control over your eating and still enjoy food. There are many things that trigger us to eat when we are not hungry and if we do this, the body takes in more than it can use and stores the excess as fat. Responding to triggers like stress, boredom and tiredness by eating is a habit. This is a learned behaviour, that is often unconscious, and can be changed. Habits are formed by repetition so by choosing to respond to your triggers in a different way you can create and maintain a new, healthier habit which gives you the result you want.
During hypnosis you can see and feel what your life would be like without this habit. Old beliefs and behaviours can be replaced with new, healthy habits. During trance the unconscious mind is more receptive to alternatives and positive suggestions. Once you picture yourself as you would like to be, it becomes a possibility and you can begin to make it happen.
